Dunnage Forklift Operator Lead - First Shift

Overview: Primary responsibilities involve planning and leading the shift operations of assigned facility, providing distribution and warehouse services to a wide variety of regional customers.
Job Location: Elkton, VA
Reports to: Warehouse Supervisor or Operations Manager
Work Schedule: Employees will work on a 21-day schedule, 4 days a week, rotating within their shift. Employees will work 9 hour shifts (5am-2pm).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with new employee orientation, as per the New Employee Orientation Checklist
Foster positive working relationships with both supervisory/management staff and warehouse associates
Monitor employee morale and other employment related issues, keeping supervision & management abreast of any items that may be of concern
Plan and lead warehouse associates with the unloading/loading/processing operations:
Ensure adequate staffing and direction
Utilize the optimal number of hourly personnel, both InterChange and/or temporary labor, to fulfill service requirements while maximizing productivity
Minimize labor costs while providing timely service
Work with supervision/management to communicate items such as hot shipments or deliveries, product on hold, work schedules, new procedures, new policies, etc.
Lead warehouse associates in the proper rotation of stock, where applicable
Assist with periodic inventories, and be prepared to lead warehouse associates in the proper cycle count, counting, and re-counting procedures
Encourage warehouse associates in the areas of safety, industrial hygiene, general safety, environmental health, and fire safety; identify and reduce risks from potential hazards in the workplace, and assist with compliance to OSHA and other regulatory rules and regulations
Monitor the maintenance and preventative maintenance of the warehouse and warehouse equipment, communicating any related problems to supervision/management
Other duties as assigned
Prior Work Related Experience Required:
Any combination of training and experience equivalent to two (2) years of warehousing experience in a moderate size warehouse
Supervisory experience is helpful but not required
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Possession of a valid state driver's license
Ability to effectively lead warehouse associates in daily activities, safety procedures, and long-term goals
Ability to analyze pertinent factors related to stock and inventory control
Comprehensive ? determine material requirements for specific or specialized projects
Ability to multitask
General knowledge of warehouse shipping, receiving and inventory control procedures for a wide variety of commodities
Knowledge of commercial shipping methods, terminology, and equipment
Knowledge of warehousing and distribution
Knowledge of Federal, State and Local requirements for receipt, storage, issuance and disposal of hazardous materials and similar items requiring special handling
Knowledge of facilities maintenance

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
